Would it be strange to name my child a name so similar to a relatives childs name?

Not at all. My daughter has the same name as one of my hubby's cousins. We didn't name our daughter for his cousin, we both just liked the name though I suppose we wouldn't have liked the name if we didn't like his cousin, who we seldom see. So I don't think it is odd at all. My other daughter has the same name as a distant cousin's daughter, who I also seldom see, but again is someone I like though, I didn't name my daughter for her. I just liked the name. So if you love the name Aurora, which is lovely, then go for it. It's not unusual for family members to like similar names, even if they aren't real close. *:)
