How to change Childs bad behavior? ?

I discoved my daughter age 12 sending nasty text messages to a boy. I have taken the phone away but this is the second time it's happened. What do I do to make her realize this behavior is not approprate for a girl her age? I don't think she has gone any further than just sending text messages but I want this to stop before it begins.
